Overview

Gangnam Taco, nestled inside the bustling food court at 1001 W Chicago Ave, brings a dynamic twist to Asian fusion cuisine. This compact spot specializes in reimagining Korean flavors with a hearty, approachable edge that resonates well with urban food lovers seeking something both familiar and inventive.

Their signature offerings are centered around bibimbap rice bowls and generously filled burritos, both serving as excellent gateways into their vivid flavor combinations. The mixed mushroom bibimbap stands out with its creamy mushroom blend, balanced by the tangy kimchi radish mix and a perfectly cooked sunnyside egg, delivering a harmonious blend of textures and flavors. For those seeking more protein variety, the “Pick Your 2 Protein” options allow customization that keeps each order fresh and tailored.

The bulgogi beef burrito has garnered particular acclaim for its robust marinated beef layered with gochujang mayo, shredded cheese, and crisp vegetables wrapped inside a warm wheat tortilla. It’s an Instagram favorite and a filling meal suited for sharing—though the richness of sour cream and cheese may feel heavy for some palates. Meanwhile, the Kalbi rice bowl is a must-try for fans of Korean BBQ, featuring tender short ribs topped with sesame and fresh green onions.

Guests frequently comment on the bold, authentic flavors, though some note minor inconsistencies such as the temperature of the burrito or variations from traditional Korean tastes—like the potatoes that offer a twist but depart slightly from classic expectations. The Korean corn dog and honey butter potato twist provide delightful, indulgent side options, echoing the playful, street-food vibe Gangnam Taco cultivates.

The atmosphere is casual and inviting, perfect for quick bites, casual meetups, or refueling during a busy day. It’s an ideal stop for diverse crowds—from solo diners craving comfort food to groups looking to share vibrant, substantial dishes without breaking the bank.

Overall, Gangnam Taco delivers a lively fusion experience that bridges Korean tradition with American convenience. Its location within the food court makes it accessible, while the flavors ensure it leaves a lasting impression. Whether you’re a fan of hearty burritos or crave the layered textures of bibimbap, this spot is a worthy addition to Chicago’s evolving food scene.

Bulgogi beef burrito: It was huge and the beef itself was amazing. The burrito comes with cheese, sour cream, and gochujang mayo which made it way too heavy and cheesy for me.

Tacos were pretty good and flavorful. The potatoes were good but just not what we expected. It doesn’t taste like the korean version (we are Koreans). I would say the tacos are definitely recommended, chef boyfriend approved! Out of the three, chicken is probably the least flavorful. I liked bulgogi the most but pork was good too. We liked how it was done like a brisket- a nice twist.

This was a very pleasant experience. I came here with no expectations just my very excited gf and she never steers me wrong. The food is excellent and quick we order two burritos, honey butter potato twist, and a hot Cheeto Korean corn dog. Burrito was 12.95 a steal, stuffed and filling. Potato twist reminds me of a funnel cake from a fair for 4.95 come on a double steal. Now to my favorite part the Korean corn dog excellent it was some times I find either the breading to be off or the dog to be unpleasant and In this situation neither, just a food that my gf and I inhaled. This place is perfect for a quick bite or hanging out with a group of friends or a place to kill time before hopping into a road rage world we live in.

Heard so many good things about the bulgogi beef burrito I had to give it a try. Flavor was really good. But it came cold. That seems odd for a burrito. I don’t mean it was hot and then sat and became room temperature. No I mean I grabbed my order as soon as it was ready and sat down and bit into it and it was like all the ingredients were straight from the refrigerator type cold. Very strange and unexpected. Maybe it’s supposed to be like that I don’t know. There are plenty of other choices inside the market as well, which I will try next time. I may. Try the burrito again too.
